Rain, Rain Go Away...

Since nightfall last night solid grey skies have been loosing their pent up rain here in Utica. It's raining enough that our newly tarred roof is apparently not without it's gap in the defense. Water suddenly came pouring into our audio studio, and me and the boys from the radio side rushed in to quickly mop up water, move equipment, and shake the water out of the massive collection of cd's while in the background Stevie Wonder's version of "Merry Christmas" blared out of the twenty dollar radio.
This is the type of rain that I don't like. It's a cold, windy, forty degree rainy day here, and it sucks the life right out of you.
Right about now, it's almost time to go home. For me, I'm going home to Blockbuster. These are the kinds of nights when I want to stay home, drag out my massive blanket, and watch some movies. I can already tell you that Cloey would be happily purring in my lap, glad that I was there.
I don't know what it really is about rain, but there's something about it that makes me tired. It could be one o'clock in the afternoon after I slept all night and all morning, but let me look outside on a day like today, and suddenly my body says "Nap time!"
But I must digress. It's time to leave, and I've gotta stop and get some coffee into me before I return to helping the masses rent their entertainment.
Maybe they'll let me bring my blanket...
I Endured Alexander

Last night, after repairing my friend's computer, I went to see a movie. It was my first night off from Blockbuster in two weeks, so I figured that it would be good to relax.
There's only one problem. I picked the wrong movie.
We went to go see "Alexander", and what followed was a three hour exhibition in longwinded endless drivel.
(climbs onto soap box)
This movie is one of the
worst movies that I have ever seen! What was Oliver Stone smoking in his crack pipe when he directed this? What American audience wants to go see a war movie where there's more of Colin Ferrel hitting on boys than there is fighting?!?
Come on! For over three hours, the movie was filled with endless scenes of Colin and some other kid staring at each other like they wanted each other.
What kind of war film is that!?!
And to top it off, it's not an hour and a half long. It's not two hours long.
It's
THREE hours long. I feel like I should be repayed! I could have worked for three hours and made money.
I could have rotated my tires, changed my oil, waxed my car, and shampooed out the interior in three hours.
Heck, in three hours my sister might even have been able to get a shopping trip in! And her shopping trips,
especially for clothes, are timed with a
CALENDER.
In three hours I could have built five computers.
Taken up needlework.
Baked a souflee.
Chopped down a forest and made a log cabin.
Learned the fine art of basket-weaving.
Repainted the Sisteen Chapel.
and, last but not least....
...
GONE TO SEE ANOTHER MOVIE.
You know what?
I change my mind from earlier.
This movie is the single WORST pile of cinematic drivel that I have ever seen.
Period.
Killing The Social Calender

Lately, seeing as I've been working two jobs, I've realized that my social calender, which wasn't exactly bulging with activities, has been effectivly taken out.
Most days I get to work now at 9, out at 5, then go to my second job by 5:30/6:00pm. I get out of that job anywhere from 11:00pm to Midnight, and on the weekends, around 1am.
Being that it's pretty mindless - organize movies, and reshelve them when they come back - I don't really mind it.
It gives me time to think.
Yesterday as I put back the entertainment that so many people had brought back earlier in the day, I got to thinking about a lot of people that have two jobs. Some of them have to have them, or they won't have enough to eat, or to pay to keep the lights on in their house. Me, I took the extra job to pay off some old debt, and re-coop some of the pay that I've lost at my current place of employment.
The only problem is that my social calender is now limited to a half-day.
I'll have to see if I can pencil "pet the dog" in for Saturday...
