Surviving My Life

I Heart DVR

For whatever reason, I'm suffering through some insomnia right now.

I couldn't help but think: "I Heart DVR".

I do. I love it. I also find it extremely amusing that myself, and my friend Tim, hate watching commercials - which, we make for a living - and our favorite part of our DVR is recording a tv show, then fast-forwarding through all the commercials.

It's so great.

I now miss shows on purpose knowing that my DVR is happily recording away in the other room.

DVR...tasty....

As I'm typing this, I've actually had a thought: What if you could take your remote and pause, stop, or even rewind your life. What if you could undo your past? What if?

Would erasing your sins or foulups in your past change your future for the better? Or would the removal of those screwups that so changed your life change who you are now?

Food for thought.

No - Pepperoni Pizza food for thought...

Take Two

So on Friday, having not heard from Adelphia all week, I decided to call them.

When what do I learn? The hold up is that there's not one job available - but TWO. And, the holdup is they are waiting for the paperwork from the Head Office before they figure out what they want to do with me.

I was told I have a job with them for sure - they just have to figure out which position is the position they want me in.

Of course, I've heard people tell me stuff before - so, I'm not easily "excited" by people telling me they want me to come work for them. When they call and tell me to start on a certain day - that's when I'll get excited.

Other than that, I'm tired. Night folks!

Typical!

If figures. No phonecall from Adelphia today, so I call over there. The guy that makes the decisions isn't there - he's home today.

TYPICAL!

So, I get to wait through tomorrow now...

Jolt The Pacemaker

So, it's Monday, and while I waited by my cellphone all day at work with baited breath, Adelphia never called. Come to find out, they were closed today - because it's Martin Luther King Jr Day.

Speaking of anticipation, is anyone else watching the new season of 24? They really should run a disclaimer on the bottom that warns people with pacemakers to not watch the show. I always find myself sitting on the edge of my recliner when I watch it.

For fun, go rent or purchase one of the Seasons of 24. Good luck watching just one episode.

Tomorrow's Tuesday, and being that I still work for Utica.Tv, my job is to tag promos. Tomorrow night on Fox is the Season Premiere of American Idol.

I've seen about 12 different promos, and let me tell you - the Lord has blessed this season with the largest group of tone-deaf contestents EVER. While that's bad for the contestents, it's good for me.

Now I've got a whole bunch of people to make fun of.

In the other TV viewing schedule, Wednesday night is when "Lost" is on. The show that always leaves me saying "WHAT THE HECK?!?"

So, that's the update. Hooray.

24 + Lost + American Idol + Stargate SG1 + Stargate Atlantis + Battlestar Galactica = 6 hours of TV per week.

Wow. I haven't watched this much tv in years...

And now, for my rave of the evening:

Is it really necessary for the garbage trucks in Utica to come at 3 in the morning and be blaring "Boston - More Than A Feeling" out exterior speakers while guys shout at each other over the noise? Coupled with the fact that the truck itself sounds like a caterpillar parallel parking on top of a monster truck. PLUS - That doesn't even account for the lights on top of the truck!

Seriously. The Superbowl called. They wanted to know what technology the Utica Waste Management was using on their trucks.

I can't believe it.

They've got the headlights. Coupled with the light rack on the top (8 lights on that) Add to that the 4 lights on the back of the truck. And, the cherry on top, is the singular 1,000,000 candlepower rotating yellow light on the roof of the cab. It's like a traveling Epileptic Seizure.

I mean - COME ON. What the heck?!? It's 3AM!

For those of you that don't understand what I'm talking about - imagine this:

Waking up from a dead sleep at 3am to Neil Diamond in your bedroom performing while Gravedigger (The Monster Truck) does an interpretive dance on your nighstand while a Virginia family of 12 in their bass boats use their flashlights to light the scene.

On that note, Advil called. They're now sponsoring my sleep.

D-Day

Tomorrow, supposedly, I'm getting a phone-call from Adelphia informing me of my either new job there, or that they've hired someone else.

They're going to hire me.

I've got a good feeling about it.

Bored.

Today is Saturday. I spent the day completely bored out of my mind.

I'm waiting for information on a website - so, nothing can be done there. I did wind up playing some Red Alert 2 for a bit, but after an hour or so I started to get bored. I wound up watching Star Wars - "Episode VI: Return of the Jedi". Still bored.

Long story short, I wound up being bored all day. Now it's 1:35am, and time to head off to bed.

Watch. I'll have boring dreams too...
