Morning Shift
Working the morning shift has become an interesting battle between my memory and my reflexes. Today the show went pretty much without a hitch - except for one fo-pa in the morning A-Block.The interesting (and hard) thing about it is the time of day I start at, and the fact that I have to work overtime every day. My shift is 3am to 1pm. 10 hours. And, let me tell you, around 10am I start to get tired.
By the time the one hour noon newscast comes around I've already done two-and-a-half hours worth of newscasts. (The 5am - 7am newscast, and the other cut-ins for the Today Show.)
Sitting next to me through it all (the 5-7am show) is the AM Producer, who I'm not sure likes me at all. Usually I look over, and she's just staring at me with a "you're weird" look on her face.
The bad news is that tomorrow I get to work my regular shift - 3am to 1pm, then come BACK at 3:00pm and work until 7:00pm to do the 6:00pm Newscast.
That's a fantastic 14 hour day. Fabulous.
BARF!
Ah well. I'm out. I have to go get ready for the noon newscast. Then I get to go home and sleep! WOO HOO!
