The Clan

Running a Halo 2 clan isn't always the easiest thing to do, and lately it's been getting tougher. I seem to have clan members that only want to be angry at each other. It might just be that I've got a few who's personalities don't mesh, but even with that, you would think that some sembelence of logic and thought would work.

I don't know. Maybe I'm expecting too much. Aside from about eight of us, the rest of the clan is younger guys. I don't know - being the leader has it's ups and downs.

Recently, someone online not in our clan said that I ran a dictatorship. I didn't think that way, and apparently neither did my clan.

They all got to vote recently if they wanted me to continue running the clan.

The vote was unanimous - "Leave it the way it is". So, we are.

Eh. I think they'll grow out of it - eventually.

Now where did I put my sledgehammer?

Blast It - Part 2

Well, I thought it was over, but now it's about 6:30pm, and they're at it again.

"Why Can't We Be Friends" wasn't working, so I was forced to go through my collection of music until I found what I was looking for that they might listen to.

I found the exact song they needed to listen to. Edwin McCain - "The Greatest Fan of Your Life". Ooooh. I can hear the sarcasm.

CRANK IT!

Blast It

Ever since I got home tonight from the bon-fire, the family downstairs has been screaming at each other. I've blogged TWICE tonight already, but I figured that since I have to go do something, you should all come along.

Anyway, the people downstairs are having this HUGE knock-down, drag out, slam all the doors, throw the china at each other fight.

They happen to be my landlord and his kids and wife.

There are four girls living in two apartments - each one 10 ft wide by 12 or 15 feet wide. Not large to any extent.

In any case, right now they're screaming - and I mean SCREAMING at each other. And they're all over the age of 21. Does logic and reason ever show up to these people?

I haven't had a knock-down drag out fight with my sister since highschool. And the last fight was her insisting that I was the greatest, and me insisting that I was too.

Traditionally, out of respect for my neighbors, I keep my $600 computer surround sound system turned off after 10 pm. They've never asked me to do that, I just do it to be nice. I have a Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1 Surround Sound system. Not only is it the most amazing set of speakers that I have ever heard, but the core part of it is a 12" 1000 watt subwoofer under my desk that makes everything shake if I turn it up.

So, as they're fighting downstairs STILL, I've decided to drown them out and listen to my stereo.

I just turned on "Why Can't We Be Friends", and I'm playing it so loud that my empty Wendy's cup is vibrating off my desk. My windows are actually rattling.

Pause.

Yup, still screaming at each other.

Play.

You know, this really is a great song... I really like the inept cord progressions and sloppy playing skills...

Pause.

Ooh...they stopp-wait. Nope! Still yelling!

Play.

This second chorus is great. More singers come in. It sounds like it was recorded at a drunken Frat party.

Pause.

Ah...silence.

(taps fingers) Yup. They seem to have stopped.

Time to go to bed. But, I'll leave the computer on. Just in case the brawlers downstairs get frisky again.

Blog Hopping - Part 1

Even though I found the bar annoying and removed it from my site, I still find it fun to go to other people's site that have the bar, and use the "Next Blog" button.

I'm a hypocrite, I know.

In any case, every now and again, I just start hitting it to see if I can run into anyone that intrests me.

Tonight, it took 12 blogs before I found someone that actually spoke English. 22 clicks before I found someone that spoke english and wasn't cussing with every-other word, and wasn't bashing President Bush. Jeepers. Apparently only the liberals blog now. And then about 28 blogs or so later, I found someone that spoke english, didn't curse, and who actually wrote interesting things.

Then I saw why. They're 62 and a retired physics professor.

Jeepers. I didn't even know that the older generation knew what a computer was.

In any case, after posting my own theory on his blog about super-string theory (faster than light travel), I browsed some more.

Some nights you don't find much.

Like tonight.

So, if you've found this site through the blog banner, know this about me:

1.) I'm sarcastic, and that's the way it is.
2.) I'm honest - all the time.
3.) I don't curse
4.) I'm ruggedly handsome.
5.) My favorite color is blue.
6.) I heart pizza.
7.) My phone number is 1-800-MR-AWESOME.
8.) I'm a republican.
9.) I support my President.
10.) The war in Iraq was justified, and we're saving the lives of OUR CHILDREN when we're fighting the terrorists in their backyards.
11.) I'm the inventor of the new dancing style - "Polish Walleyed Breakdancing".
12.) My sister is really ticklish.
13.) I'm the greatest.
14.) God is not "Religion". God is reality. He's real. And remember - even if you don't belive in Him, he believes in you.
15.) I heart Halo.

That about sums it up for me.

So, in any case, anyone else out there found interesting blogs that they visit frequently?

Let me know. If you need me, I'll be over here. Pressing the "Next Blog" button.

The Bon-Fire

Tonight was different for me. Traditionally, my Friday nights are spent with my clan online playing Halo, or working, or out looking for work, or simply watching TV. But, tonight I went with my parents to this bonfire that my church put on.

What an event, and what fun. It was for the "youth" supposedly, but everyone from the church came anyway. And, I haven't had that much fun in awhile. You would really think that sitting around a fire with a bunch of people wouldn't be all that fun, but it was. There were about 40 people there, and it was a real blast hanging out and getting to know them more.

My friends had their daughter called them from Maryland, and right then my young friend, Zachary, who's 4 years old, told their 22 year old daughter that he wanted to marry her.

"We're gonna get married! We can get married at Toys R Us, and have peanut butter sandwiches! Go to WalMart and get the popcorn chicken!!!"

Caity was quite embarrassed on the phone. ^.^ lol!

In any case, there were pizzas, and nachos, and 800 kinds of cookies, and brownies, and - jeepers. Just TONS of food. One thing about these people - when they get together, nobody ever goes away hungry.

Those people are so nice, it just staggers me. They are some of the nicest people I've ever met in my life. From 7pm right until 11pm, we were there shooting the breeze, enjoying the rather large fire that I built with some of the younger guys, and they even busted out some acoustic guitars and started horsing around. Traditionally, I frown upon that sort of thing. The minute a guitar shows up when a bunch of Christians are at an event where there's fire, instantly, unsaved people think we're about to start singing "Kumbaya", followed by a nice snake-handling session, with a goat sacrifice.

However, this time, suprisingly, they started playing the Jamiroque tune from Napoleon Dynamite, while one of them danced the actual dance that Napoleon performed on stage.

One would think it would be impossible to dupicate that song - but these two guys did it - and one had a 12 string guitar. It's definetly one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time.

For those that read regularly, you know that I struggle every day with my past and coming to grips with what I did. Not a minute goes by that I don't regret it. I screwed up, and I lost my friends. There isn't really anyone at this church that is my age, (the young people are all 18 and under), but I still know that this is where I belong now.

In any case, it was a wonderful evening, and I can't wait until we do it again. Sunday is a party at the church, and there is going to be a huge dinner.

I swear...any excuse they can come up with to have food, they do it.

God bless them.

A History of Violence

Well, tonight as customary, I went to go see a movie with my friend Allen. He subscribes to "Entertainment Weekly", and according to that, everyone says that "A History of Violence" is a great film that everyone should go see.

They're lying.

The film is boring. I'm not being sarcasting, or exaggerating - I was actually bored during that entire film. It was like War and Peace - the film was horrible! I felt like gouging my eyes out during the movie it was so boring. 90 minutes of my life, wasted.

*sigh*

Next to "Alexander", this was one of the most boring films I have ever watched.

They should have changed the name to "A History of Narcolepsy".

Ode to Sissy

As many of you know, I have a sister. Named "Sissy". Rumor has it that my parent's gave her some other name, but DON'T BELIEVE IT!

In any case, I wrote her a song:

Here goes:

"Ode To Sissy" (Key of C)

There once was a girl named Sissy!
She got weird and moved to Philly!

She's got a cat named "Twinkie"
Who's name should be changed to "Stinky"!

Even though she up and moved away
I still miss her everyday.

Watching the dog shows and making fun
"Look at that dog! He's got a funny run!"

Mister Moosey misses sissy too.
Even though he's dumber than a stick of glue.

I'm always recording "Lost" and sending to her Mac.
I'll probably have to do that until she gets back.

Even though I don't have any friends she still comes to visit.
Then she looks at my movie collection and tries to leave with it.

I hope she gets done with college soon and comes home quick
That way I can make fun of her - and give her the "Poke of Sissiness"!

It's October. It's Snowing.

Apparently, the weather around here is confused. Here I am, sitting at my computer at 11:30pm on October 25th, and right now, It's snowing.

Nope, I'm not kidding. It's snowing outside of my window. How hard is it snowing? Well, right now my car is covered.

Jeepers. Winter starting in October?!? Usually, it's hit or miss come Christmas if we have snow or not - but snow starting in October? Fall started a month ago! On October 6th, it was 80 degrees here. Now, nineteen days later, It's snowing?

What the heck?

Great. Just great. This signals the start of my "War on Salt". They're going to start salting the road now. My black car is going to get dirty. That means I have to wash it. This process is a constant act that I commit each winter - cleaning the car. It's necessary. I can't stand having a dirty car.

Jeepers. Tomorrow I go to the car wash!

In any case, the reason for my late posting is actually due to good news. Today I recieved a large influx of buisness. Hooray!

Back to work for me!

Weather Morons

You know, I was just watching the Weather Channel, and they're talking about Hurricane Wilma going through Florida.

And, wherever there's a hurricane, wherever there's bad weather, whatever channel you're watching, there's some idiot standing out in the storm.

Let's discuss the stupidity of this. You're standing out in weather that knocks buildings down, and you don't expect anything to happen to you?

I'm just waiting to see one of these reports when the weather guy out there gets nailed by a flying picnic table, or tree, or, even better, an airborne Dodge Neon.

Random Thoughts

As you either know, or don't know, I work for myself now. Good benefits, plus my boss is great. He really is. He always agrees with my point of view!

In any case, my buisness in general feels like it's starting to ramp up. And this time, I really think it is. I've got some steady buisness coming in a bit now, and I think I might make car payment this month, and even rent. Which, if you ask me, is pretty important.

I wish that there was some way to look in the future and see where I'll be five years from now. Married? Kids? Working for someone else, or not? Making good money? Living in this dumpy apartment?

The future always intrests me...

In any case, it might actually snow here tonight. Right. It is October. And yes, it might snow.

Typical.

My car is weeping openly in the driveway.

Introspective

Here it is. 4:30 in the morning. I can't sleep.

There I am, lying in bed, staring at the ceiling when a thought comes to me. Why do we blog? What is the point of blogging? Does it accomplish any goals?

To me, there are two groups of bloggers. Those that do it just to relieve stress and see what they're thinking in writing, and those that use it as a form of communication. Of course, if nobodys reading it, then you must not be communicating it all that well.

Me, I'm part of the first group. I could care less if someone else randomly finds this page on the internet. Although, I did spend an inordinate amount of time making the template on here just so I could be an individual. Hmmm...maybe I was thinking that someone might visit.

So - what's the point? Why do we do this? I mean, technically, if you want to have a conversation on a topic, there are forums all across the internet to do so. Wouldn't that be easier?

It also seems to me that now everybody's got one of these. Of course, being who I am, I hate going to the GAP, or Old Navy simply because everyone else does it. I've never wanted to be like everyone else - now I'm starting to.

I've also come across blogs of people that I know. And, it was through use of the "Next Blog" button that I used to have on my site. (It's hidden now.) It's interesting what people write, especially when you know them.

I've also noticed that my generation has a serious problem with capitalization, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. I mean, come on - is it really that hard to take an extra five minutes just to make sure that other people can read what you wrote?

Sheesh. One blog I came across was two pages long, and one run-on sentence. Jeepers. I realize that on paper you don't have to take a breath, but it's much easier to read when you don't have to guess where someone's ramblings cease and the next one starts.

In any case, seeing as I spent all this time on this thing making it look snazzy again, I might as well keep doing it.

*sigh*

Hello crowd. Been a long time since I followed you.
