I Have No Idea.
As I walk through the tv station, talking to the talent and the production crew, one thought fills my mind - “I have no idea what I'm doing.”Besides the fact that it's an industry I've never worked in, I'm also filling a job I've never done before.
I'm green. Like Celery. And Broccoli. And Brussel Sprouts.
It's interesting to me that they chose me – knowing that I have zero experience doing what the job involves.
So, what do I do?
Officially, I'm a “News Director”. I run the 5:00pm – 6:00pm News Hour, and then later the 11pm Newscast. While sounding interesting – and it is – it's only interesting for about 2 hours. Then it's borderline boredom.
Directing is fun – when you have something to direct.
From 6:30pm to 9:45pm, I basically do nothing.
And, if you know me, Jeremiah + boredom = :(
Being a creative individual means that when I show up to work, I need to have something to do that's remotely interesting.
As for the hours, that's a new thing for me. Working from 3:30pm to Midnight for the first few weeks followed by a shift change to 2:30pm to 11:00pm. Working nights is pretty interesting – i.e. - I've never done it before and I'm too naive to know that having all of my nights taken up all the time is going to drive me through the roof.
Right now it's boring – until Monday when my crash course in “Parker Vision” takes place.
That should be a real blast.
On the “girl front”, tonight I got a phonecall from my friends – they had her cell phone number for me. I called it at around 9pm while I was on break, but it went straight to voicemail. I left a message – tripping over my words the entire time. I left my phone number in there somewhere.
She works nights also, apparently, and I have no idea what time she gets out of wherever it is that she works. (I have no idea what she even does.)
In the end, the ball is in her court now. I left my number in there – I probably sounded like a moron “Ummm...hey. Yeah. My friend gave me your number...”
*sigh*
If nothing, my life is always interesting...
